Design-Build Institute Applauds Movement on Infrastructure Investment

Increasing America’s infrastructure investment is one of the few issues in this politically polarized era that Americans nationwide have rallied around. However, despite this rare bipartisan agreement and recognition of the need for increased infrastructure investment, there is no easy answer to the critical question of “how do we pay for it?

“Release of the Senate Democrats’ $1 trillion infrastructure plan, combined with President Trump’s promise to revitalize America’s crumbling infrastructure, marks a unique opportunity for bi-partisan cooperation that we, as a nation, simply can’t allow to pass us by. Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Rev. Jesse Jackson’s effort to organize a national infrastructure summit is also an important step to bringing together representatives from the public and private sectors, builders, designers, lawmakers and infrastructure experts to tackle this issue head-on.

Design-builders nationwide understand first-hand the importance of cooperation and communication to delivering successful projects. Congress should also embrace that philosophy to ensure this moment in history is not lost. With much of our nation’s infrastructure either structurally deficient, functionally obsolete or both, now is the time to turn promises into progress.”…Lisa Washington, DBIA Executive Director/CEO

The Design-Build Institute, based in Washington, D.C., is the only membership organization bringing together thousands of organizations and individuals representing architects, engineers, owners, contractors, manufacturers (and more) to define, teach and promote best practices in design-build.
